Evaluation and information meeting of the 4th Leather and Leather Apparel Fair

Soyer: If you produce more, the welfare of the city will increase.

Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer attended the evaluation and information meeting of the Leather & More – the 4th Leather and Leather Apparel Fair, which will be hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, between 16-19 March. Mayor Soyer said, “We know that if you grow, you produce more and you export, the prosperity of this city will increase. We are with you and we will continue to be with you.”

Continuing to work in line with the vision of "İzmir, the City of Fairs" of Tunç Soyer, the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring different sectors together in İzmir with the fairs organized. Leather&More-4, which will be held by İZFAŞ between 16-19 March and hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. The evaluation and information meeting of the Leather and Leather Apparel Fair was held in İzmir Marina Nefes Restaurant. Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, Aegean Exporters' Associations Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association Chairman Erkan Zandar, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry Leather Processing and Leather Products Industry Professional Committee member and İzmir Free Zone (İZBAŞ) Board Chairman Eyüp Sevimli, İZFAŞ General Manager Canan Karaosmanoğlu Alıcı, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Şükran Nurlu, representatives of non-governmental organizations and leather industry representatives attended the meeting.

Soyer: The city's prosperity depends on breaking its shell

Mayor Tunç Soyer, emphasizing the disasters that İzmir has experienced in recent years, said, “Continuing to grow and export despite the economic crisis and the pandemic is above all kinds of appreciation. You can do much more. You are the resilient industrialists of this geography. No one in the world is experiencing the difficulties you are experiencing. If you can handle them, you can do much more. As İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ, we will be with you until the end. We know that the prosperity of this city depends on breaking its shell and integrating it with the outside. This is how the prosperity of a city grows.”

Stating that they increased the number of specialized fairs from 11 to 31 per year, Soyer continued: “Leather & More deserves much more. We are with you, we will continue to be with you. We want to do whatever we can to increase your volume and export more production. We know that if you grow, you produce and export more, the prosperity of this city will increase. Wherever you get stuck, we'll be there for you. Let this fair be a fair where the bar is raised a little higher.”

Erkan Zandar, Chairman of the Board of the Leather and Leather Products Exporters' Association, said, “The Leather & More Fair was an organization that İzmir lacked in leather apparel. This year we are holding the fourth one. I would like to thank the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and his team for their support and contributions. We will organize this fair together with Shoexpo. We hope that our two sectors will be beneficial to each other, that there will be an environment where the awakening, exports come back, and the leather industry returns to the past.”
