Natural Stones Weighing as Much as Two Eiffel Towers to Be Exhibited at the İzmir Marble Fair

The countdown has begun for MARBLE İzmir – 30th International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair, the gateway of Turkish natural stone to the world and the largest global gathering of the industry. The first natural stone has arrived for the fair, which will be held from April 9–12. A total of 20,000 tons of block stones—equivalent to the weight of two Eiffel Towers—will be exhibited at Fuar İzmir, Turkey’s largest fairground.

Preparations are ongoing for the İzmir Marble Fair, one of the most significant global events in the natural stone industry. MARBLE İzmir – International Natural Stone and Technologies Fair will open its doors for the 30th time at Fuar İzmir from April 9 to 12. The fair will host industry professionals from all around the world and all 81 provinces of Turkey. Over a thousand colorful block natural stones and industrial machines will be showcased. With the trade volume it generates, the fair is expected to provide a significant economic boost to both Turkey and the city, while also empowering the natural stone sector.

The First Natural Stone Arrives at Fuar İzmir
The first natural stone brought to Fuar İzmir for exhibition at the 30th MARBLE İzmir was a marble block extracted from a quarry in the İscehisar district of Afyonkarahisar. Internationally, this type of marble is known as Afyon Gold and Calacatta Viola. The tons-heavy marble block was carefully placed in the exhibition area.

Massive Stones Weighing Over 20 Tons Each
Each block to be exhibited at the fair can weigh over 20 tons. With more than a thousand blocks expected to arrive, the total weight of the marbles to be displayed will reach 20,000 tons—twice the estimated weight of the Eiffel Tower, which weighs around 10,000 tons.

Cumalıoğlu: We Expect Around a Thousand Exhibitors
İZFAŞ General Manager Tuğçe Cumalıoğlu announced that preparations have begun for setting up the fair, a pioneer in attracting exhibitors from around the globe and a high number of local and international visitors. “The first marble block has been delivered to our site. We will keep working for a stronger future and continue to produce for this beautiful country,” she stated.
